I love birds. They're the wild animals that you tend to see the most.. Robins, cardinals, herons, seagulls, ducks. Just regular birds.

I decided that if I was the spirit of some animal or plant, like in 'Spirited Away,' I would be a female cardinal, or an orchid.

Theme: Self II, The Many Faces Of...

going through new and old pictures,
i realized that over time i've clung to differing identities
there have been differing selves making their appearance in my own looking-glass
i'm the same person underneath it all, though it is something hard to define

maybe it's why i like making the different names

in everyday life, technically you could decide to be a different person with each new person you met,

that new person would form assumptions about your entire character based on the face you show..
if you have control over what you present and understand how you might be perceived there is such freedom

just thought i'd post with some pictures I took at the zoo in D.C.

bizarre ...such creatures we share the earth with

this is the most horrifying thing! it sits there completely still like a rock, and part of its tongue mimics a worm. this attracts poor unassuming fish so it can then CHOMP down with its massive scary jaws.

Randall the giraffe! He came in to strut around a bit, and eat.

bashful. sometimes, it would be convenient to have a portable hiding place

my neen likes dinosaurs. here she is being eaten by a tyrannosaurus.

gharials are also curious things. info about gharials: they are, the second largest of all surviving crocodilians, and catch fast moving fish with their long thin snout.

Anaconda! ohh they're huge amazing animals

and finally, a panda. This is the male, Tian Tian, the zoo also had a female, Mei Xiang, and her baby, Tai Shan. it was exciting to see them, Tian Tian just kept eating bamboo. I couldn't get as close to the mom and baby so my pictures aren't that great, but they were adorable. Tai Shan was trying to play the whole time, and climbing things and being clumsy and falling.

First Photoblog Post! Theme: Spontaneous Everyday Oddities.

I have a thing for strange captures in everyday (well, sometimes not so banal) situations. Just quirky, weird situations where people are caught off guard. Anything could make the picture, the expression on the person's face, their actions at that moment, the odd setting, or maybe the random person/object in the background that has some significance. Not all are completely spontaneous, but most..

---Not all of these are of artistic quality, but I never said all photos in this journal would be. They all have their own charm to me.---

If I ever do more than one picture in here I'll cut after the first.
Also! There's a caption contest for any of them, hehe.

first off, one of my favorite pictures ever:

- I'll have posts set up by Theme. I might repost pictures if they fit into different themes.

- Sometimes there will only be One picture posted, and it'll just have its own title.

- I'm going to have a Photographer of the Week feature, sometimes I might skip a week, sometimes I might have more than one a week, depending on how busy I am. This is going to include friends, random people from livejournal, famous photographers, etc. If I pick you and you're my friend I'll look through what you have in whatever you have posted online and pick my favorites to display, and of course link back to your main art site.

- not all will be art photography, depending on the theme I will probably include just normal snapshots that relate, because i take a lot of them.
